Major Norwich Crime Survey Launched

A major survey has been launched to find out the views of residents across Norwich regarding crime and anti-social behaviour in the city. Over the coming weeks, tens of thousands of surveys will be delivered to households asking for peoples' experiences and opinions on issues including where people feel the major trouble-spots are in the city, their experiences with the police, and their views on prisons and sentencing of offenders.

Simon Wright, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesman for Norwich South, who has launched this survey said:

"Crime and anti-social behaviour are the among the issues that come up most often when I'm speaking to people in Norwich," says Mr Wright. "My aim with this survey is to find out people's views on what can be done at both a local and national level, and to compile a dossier of evidence to present to the authorities."

"There have been some successes in recent months against anti-social behaviour in the entertainment parts of the city, particularly the Prince of Wales Road. However, there are other areas such as Clover Hill in Bowthorpe, Chapelfield Gardens, and around the Castle where people have told me that they don't feel safe at some times of the day. I'm pleased that some of the city centre locations are being identified as priorities by the new Safer Neighbourhood teams."
