Campaigners Welcome First Ticket Policy Change

Parents of Under-5s are set to benefit from a ticketing policy change by First Buses. Until now, a parent could take only one under-5 with them onto a bus for free travel, but following pressure from travellers and local Liberal Democrats, parents will now be able to take two under-5s onto a First Bus for free for a trial period.

Simon Wright, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesman for Norwich South, wrote to First Buses earlier in the year. "I had discovered that passengers of First Buses with young children were often getting a much better deal in other parts of the country. I wrote to First to challenge their ticketing policy in Norwich."

"I am delighted that with a new chief executive in place, there has been a change of heart. I hope that more parents of young children will now be encouraged to use buses in the city and that this policy change will become permanent."

The new policy will be trialled from June 3rd.
